Summary: European Union funded project aimed to bring linguistic technologies close to a marketable stage for providing Intelligent Services to News Agencies. It uses technologies such as natural language parsing, multilingual information extraction and hypertext generation. STAR Lab will deliver two key components to the system: a user profiling facility and a system-wide ontology-based service to ensure semantic interoperability: User profiling: We will apply ontology-based technologies to the user profiling component, improving overall performance and precision by guaranteeing semantic correctness. Ontology service: an ontology server-based system-wide facility will ensure internal and external semantic correctness.
